Accomplished
- interned as a Digital Consultant at The Wednesday Group - a Scottish consulting group - working on a project to optimise/digitise supply chains for a furniture donation driven charity
- interned as a as a quantitative software engineer at a small trading startup based out of New Jersey
- got an offer for a summer 2021 software engineering internship at Slack
- got an offer for a spring 2021 software engineering internship at FLX.AI
- Achieved the GPA targets that I set myself for both semesters
- Took over as the second president of the Google Developer Student Club at my university, and re-recruited the entire club from scratch (23 members), launching a 4-part workshop series on Flutter development
Decisions
- I switched out of an Financial Economics major and into a Mathematics major after realising how broadly mathematics could be applied, and deciding that I wanted to engage in more rigorous courses
- After my summer internship experiences, I realised that while I was really interested in solving problems of all kinds (consulting/engineering), I wanted to direct my career towards the tech industry because I wanted to work more closely with launching products/software services
- Dropped my pursuit of a minor in Philosophy
Failures
- isolated myself from people, and so didn’t a lot of time with friends
- No fitness routine
- Didn’t spend enough time with my girlfriend
- Didn’t manage my work + academic stress very well, had a few breakdowns
- Didn’t give myself enough breaks, and was too anal about my time and how I spent it
- More of a taker, wasn’t doing much giving back
- got Covid — though I tried my best not to
- all my networking was very transactional
