This is the first time I’ve written publicly about any sort of reflective piece, but I thought it would be really interesting to get out of my comfort zone and talk about what I’ve experienced/learnt this year.
Sam Gorman’s framework gave me some much needed structure on how I might like think about publicly planning for the future/reflecting on the past, and I hope that this might encourage others to reflect in a similar way (as I was), but also keep me a hell of a lot more accountable.
FYI this write up is very raw, unpolished, and vulnerable. I hadn’t really been keeping a proper record of things to best capture the fullness of the experiences I had this year, so there might be a lot of “all’s well in the end” type bias. Moreover, since it is my first “public” post as such, I decided it might be best to ease myself into it — so there are a lot of major highlights this year that aren’t getting shared here. Also note, I decided to avoid naming names in this post for the most part.
It’s probably also got a lot of language errors since I started writing this in the evening of the 31st of Dec 2021 and wanted to get it out at least by the 2nd of Jan 2022). As a result of the rush (since I was a bit occupied traveling around Amsterdam during new years), most of my statements are quite surface level, and I haven’t expanded on them much to properly articulate the fuller thought I was going for- but I really just want to get this out, and get the ball rolling, will do it better in 2022, but the first go at anything is always gonna be a bit lacking.
I’ve also decided that I will continue to expand on this page even after I post it - should’ve really started planning this earlier haha
Bonus: one of my goals for 2022 is to create and publish content around myself, so this is me taking those first steps :)

2020 was a lot about proving myself to people - my friends, my professors, recruiters, and most importantly, myself. I started my second semester of university during early 2020, and was still deciding whether I should pursue management consulting, or dive deeper into tech/engineering or quantitative finance.
